Wearing denim cutoffs with boots can be tricky. In my eyes, it’s all about proportion, balance, and the perfect pair of cutoffs. I look for a flattering fit in my denim, nothing too tight or short. I also like a classic blue wash and, most importantly, they have to be comfortable!
When pairing the leg-baring shorts with ankle boots, I try to have some balance in the amount of skin I’m showing by covering up with a loose flowy top. If wearing a tank or tee, I keep the fit relaxed and stay away from anything too tight.
As for accessories, I like a semi-slouchy tote and bohemian jewelry accents. The ankle boot/shorts combo has a definite casual vibe, so I would stay away from any jewelry or bags that are too ladylike or delicate.
When looking for a flattering ankle boot, look for a pair that hits at the smallest part of your ankle. It gives your leg a bit more length, rather than cutting it in half. I picked up these boots on clearance at Target. I’m not expecting them to go the distance quality-wise, but I couldn’t resist the grommet details. And that’s what it’s all about- finding a pair of boots (or cutoffs) that you can’t resist and rocking them!
